1st Annual Ernie’s Walk

Dogs Walking for Cats

A Walk to Benefit ALL Animals!

Ernie’s Walk will be held at the scenic Downtown Sanford River Walk with activities and vendors set up at Ft. Mellon Park located at 600 E. First Street, Sanford. The morning will be filled with music, raffles, fun contests, vendors, and prizes for the top fundraisers. Afterwards stroll down First Street and enjoy the St. Johns River Festival of the Arts. What better way to spend a day than with fellow animal lovers!

Swift Paws of Central Florida, sponsored by Pet Paradise of Sanford, will be joining us for the day! If your dog hasn’t tried lure chasing…they are missing out! If your dog loves to chase things, they will LOVE lure chasing! And even if you think they won’t, you might be very surprised when your dog goes nuts for the lure!  Check out their website: http://www.cfswiftpaws.com/

Each registrant gets a small goodie bag and a doggie bandana the day of the event. If you don’t have a dog but just want to come out and join us for the day, no need to register, we are happy to have you!

Create your dog’s profile right online for free and reach out to family and friends and ask them to sponsor your dog. Create a personal goal for you and your dog to raise more funds for the homeless animals! You can share the link to your dog’s profile via facebook and email! WHO IS ERNIE???

IMG_7561sErnie Hill was a member of the TEARS family and a friend to the homeless animals. He was a founding member of TEARS back in 2010 and helped grow TEARS to what we are today. Ernie left this world in December 2014. With his passing, he has left a huge hole not just within our group, but in the lives of so many friends and family who knew him. What a funny, witty, talented and friend Ernie was to so many people! If you had the opportunity to have met him, you know what an exceptional bright light he was. Ernie was a passionate animal advocate with TEARS (especially cats) and was hands on with fostering animals in need, working special shelter projects and assisting in adoption events.

Ernie’s Walk was created to keep Ernie’s spirit alive within TEARS! It is our hope that his legacy will live on through this yearly event by helping the homeless animals Ernie cared so much about. Whether you have a cat, a dog or neither, we hope that you will join us for this special day celebrating life. We can only wish to be so lucky to have made such an impact on this earth when its our time. Thank you for joining us!
